Impact work is only embedded when everyone in the organisation speaks the same language. Board members, executives and frontline staff often use words like impact, outcome and evidence differently, and that gap shows up later, in reporting confusion, mismatched expectations, and frameworks nobody trusts. Impact Fundamentals fixes that at the source.
We run a structured session that builds shared understanding of the concepts that matter, and what they mean in practice, including:
- What is the difference between an activity, an output and an outcome?
- What is a theory of change?
- What is the difference between a short, medium and long term outcome?
- What is an evidence base and how do you use it to improve your organisation’s impact?
- What is the difference between impact management data and impact measurement data, and how do you use them?
- What is an impact strategy?
- What does a good impact report look like?
Sessions run one, two or three hours depending on the depth you need, and can be hosted online so the whole team can attend, recorded for anyone who can’t. We’ve also run a focused one hour version for boards, particularly useful where members come from a business background and are building this understanding for the first time.
