In a new report released today, the US Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment conducted research between May and August 2014 and have documented the growth of responsible investment and impact investment as compared to the same period two years ago. The growth is a staggering 76% with assets growing from $3.74 trillion at the beginning of 2012 to $6.57 trillion at the start of 2014.

The report states that more than one dollar in every six under professional asset management in the US is now managed with sustainable, responsible and impact investing strategies. Much of this growth comes from fund managers offering funds that take into account ESG factors into their investment strategies, with these funds growing from $1.4 trillion to $4.8 trillion in the last two years. 80% of fund managers surveyed reported that the shift was due to client demand, with 70% of those stating that ESG was required to better manage client risk and improve returns.
